“May you live in interesting times,” goes the Chinese saying chosen by Ralph Rugoff to be the theme of last year’s Biennale Exhibition in Venice. Although these words may seem to wish you luck, they are in fact a curse meant to bring unrest and shockwaves. The main exhibition at the Central Pavilion and the Arsenale refers to the stormy times we live in. “May You Live In Interesting Times” includes works addressing the problem of the uncertainty of today’s existence.
