the 6th edition A WELL DESIGNED BOOK - let's start with children

11th May 2018 is the celebration of children's books at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice!

The 6th edition of A well designed book – let's start with children, just like the previous ones, combined several events: a Competition for the best design of a book for the youngest readers, a scientific conference devoted to the issue of their design, this year led by the theme of the Hero in illustrated books for children, and numerous exhibitions.

On 12 April 2018 the Competition Jury composed of:
Krystyna Lipka-Sztarbałło (Warsaw) – chairwoman of the Jury
Magda Kłos-Podsiadło (Wytwórnia Publishing House, Warsaw)
Dorota Hartwich (Format Publishing House, Wrocław)
Barbara Kęsek (Znak Publishing House, Cracow)
Ewa Kokot (Insea Poland oraz Silesian Library, Katowice)
Justyna Szklarczyk-Lauer (the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice)

awarded the main prize in this edition of the Competition to Hanna Łupińska for the book project Dziecinada(l).

In this edition of the Competition, 3 independent groups – the Competition Jury, the Children's Jury and the Publishers' Jury – after seeing 120 works by 90 authors, chose 54 works of 45 authors for the post-competition exhibition.

The winners of the awarded works were announced during the opening ceremony on 11 May, at 5:00 p.m. at the Roundabout Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
